Search engine optimization (SEO) burst into the public consciousness a couple of decades ago. Compared to what it was in the beginning, SEO is an industry unto itself—a profitable and sophisticated one at that. Over the years, and with every Google algorithm change, SEO has continuously evolved. However, one thing that will never change is the proliferation of SEO myths.

The SEO Myth Still Going Around

An SEO myth that has persisted for years is that websites can get instant positive SEO results. This particular myth is more like a scam. Those who continue to propagate this fallacy are unscrupulous people/companies within the industry who peddle their black-hat SEO services to businesses that know little about digital marketing.

The scam starts with emails or ads promising immediate high rankings in search engine results pages (SERPs). However, we should all know there is no such thing as instant SEO results—it’s a long-term game. It takes about four to six months for an optimized website to show up in the SERPs, hardly an instant result. Even then, SEO efforts need to be sustained if you want to keep prominent rankings.

This is just one of the many SEO myths. Check out the infographic below to learn more about other common SEO myths to ignore.
